Thank You Senator Annette Cleveland

Thank You Senator Annette Cleveland

June 10, 2022

Friends of Vancouver Lake sends a great big shout out to 49th Legislative District Senator Annette Cleveland for her ardent support for cleaning up Vancouver Lake!

During the 2022 Legislative session Senator Cleveland was successful in adding $150,000 in the state budget to go to Clark County to develop a management plan for Vancouver Lake. The money runs through the Department of Ecology. After a rigorous selection process, the County has awarded the work to Herrera engineering company of Portland whose expertise is in water issues.

The budget language for the $150,000 specifies that local governments, property owners around the lake, tribes, the state departments of Natural Resources, Ecology and Fish and Wildlife, as well non-profit organizations advocating for the lake, be included in the planning process.

And we are delighted to announce that Friends of Vancouver Lake will be represented on their working committees.

The project’s goal is to develop a plan for how to clean and keep clean the lake, and to assess responsibilities among the various jurisdictions.

This is a great step forward for Vancouver Lake and HOORAY for Senator Cleveland!!!
